Custom Typeface influenced by items from a toolbox

Tool Box

Project:
Location Typography

Deliverables:
Geometric Typeface, Poster Design

We was tasked with creating a custom typeface using a location of our choice to influence us in the design process. My chosen location was a garage where I found a selection of items in a toolbox to help create a bespoke typeface. Each character was created using a maximum of four shapes helping to create a visually appealing alphabet that allowed the characters to work well when used together in a sentence.

My design style was bold with a geometric feel that was inspired by the work of designers such as Saul Bass and Paul Rand. Once the alphabet had been created I played around with how the typeface may look used as a brand and created various mockups showcasing it.
